GOD HAS NO COUNTRY AT GLÓRACH: The extraordinary story of the actions of Kerryman Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty, who defied the fascists during World War II, will be brought to the stage in the one-man play,God has no Country by Killarney man Donal Courtney. TREES CUT DOWN IN THE SQUARE: There was shock and disappointment when the trees were cut down the other morning. Abbeyfeale Community Council have been in touch with Limerick County Council who say they will be replaced shortly and that it was necessary to cut them because of the ever increasing size of the wind turbines that transit through the town at night.
GLÓRACH: Thanks to all who turned out for our showing of Citizen Kane on Wednesday last, the monthly film screening has become an established staple of the Abbeyfeale social scene since its inception in the Spring. Acknowledgement was made at the end of the film of all who have sponsored us to date, a massive thanks to you all for donating towards the eye-catching film posters that have adorned the town in the last few months. Next up is ‘Singing in the Rain’ which will be screening on Wednesday, October 4 at 8 pm.
HOPE FOUNDATION: Conor McAuliffe and Caoime Pegley from Abbeyfeale will be travelling to Kolkata next Easter. They will speak at all Masses on the weekend of September 16/17. ABBEYFEALE SELECTED AS A WILD CARD IN GOING FOR GOLD COMPETITION: The judges in this year’s Limerick Going for Gold have travelled the length and breadth of Limerick city and county visiting the communities involved in this year’s Challenge category of the competition.The visits have been to see the amazing work and dedication that volunteers across Limerick have for their localities, in making them better places to live, work and visit.The judges also have had the difficult task of selecting seven wildcards to join the five weekly winners as Challenge Category Finalists after they were chosen by public vote. The seven wildcard communities to go through to the grand final are (in alphabetical order): Abbeyfeale, Adare, Croom, Foynes, Kilfinane, Moyross and South Limerick City. They will join the communities of Athea, Galbally, Castleconnell, Oola and Hospital who were chosen during the weekly public votes. All 12 communities will compete in the Challenge Category of Limerick Going for Gold 2017 later in the Autumn.

NEWS FLASH : NEW SCIENTOLOGY CENTRE: The centre which is to open and train hundreds of converts is just weeks away from opening in south Dublin, TheJournal.ie has learned. The centre is to be opened as an Ideal Organisation which the Church of Scientology (CoS) say is “configured to provide the full services of the Scientology religion to its parishioners, while also serving the community with social betterment and outreach programmes”.
